- About DJing in general -
What's a BPM ?
The BPM (Beat Per Minute) is the speed of the music. A slow music like reggae
or groove music will have a lower BPM (about 100-110) than dance or techno music
(130-140).
Why do I need to have the songs at the same BPM ?
In order for both musics to have the same rhythm, they need, of course, to
have the same speed. That's why professional DJ's turntables have a pitch button
allowing them to speed up or slow down the records.
In AtomixMP3, you just have to push the magic button in order to set the songs
at the same BPM.
How to synchronize the songs ?
In order to synchronize the songs, setting them at the same BPM is not enough.
You also need the beats to be together. Otherwise, you would hear the typical
"boom boom ... boom boom" of DJ beginners who fail their mix. You
can try to shift the rhythm curves on purpose and then shift them back together,
and you'll see what I mean :)
I've got two sound cards installed, at startup, what
means " the sound card is already in use by another application "
?
The sound cards probably share a system resource (DMA or IRQ).Open the System
windows (in the Configuration Panel) and change the DMA and IRQresources of
the cards so that they don't step on each other any more.
Why does the song keep skipping ?
Your default DirectX driver might be an emulated driver instead of your realsoundcard
driver. Go in the option window of AtomixMP3 and in the sound cardoption, select
the correct driver.
Why does the song play for a few seconds and then skips
backward ?
If you also find that in the rhythm window, the display of the rhythm curve is very slow,
then your computer does not run fast enough. You should consider buying a more up-to-date
CPU for your computer.
Why are the two desks playing the songs not at the same
speed.
This problem can occur with a Crystal sound card. Try to use the latest DirectX
driversfor your sound card, or try with another sound card.
I didn't find any answer to my question here. Where
can I find it ?
Please check Atomix's forums, and you shall find an
answer already there, or ask for one. In the worst case, please send
us your question, we will answer you as soon as possible. Or browse the
documentation on AtomixMP3.
